Text : Multivariable Calculus,
6th Edition by Edwards & Penney.
Course Description :
This is a standard course in multivariable calculus covering chapters 12-15 of the text and culminating with Green's, Divergence and Stokes' theorems.
Course Requirements :
You are required to hand in the homework every week, take the quizzes, midterms
and the final. Students are expected to attend every class. It is your
responsibility to obtain lecture notes and other materials from your
peers should you miss a class.
Homework :
Homework will be assigned each class and collected at the
beginning of Thursday's class. There will be short quizzes at the beginning of Thursday's class every
other week. It is very important to complete homework daily in order not to fall behind. Late
homeworks will not be accepted.
Collaboration :
You can talk to each other about any of the homework problems, but when you write up the problems to be handed in, you must work alone.
Exams : There will
be two midterms and one final exam.
No make-ups will be given for missed quizzes and exams; any student who
misses an exam without a note from a doctor or dean will receive a grade of zero
for that exam. If you must miss an exam, you are required to notify me of your
dean or doctor's name and contact information BEFORE the beginning of the exam.
- Midterm I : Thursday, February 28th, in class.
- Midterm II : Thursday, April 10th, in class.
- Final Exam : Tuesday, May 13th, 2 PM.
Grading :
Grades will be calculated as follows:
- Homework 10%
- Quizzes 5%
- Participation 5%
- First Midterm 20%
- Second Midterm 20%
- Final 40%
Books and calculators of any kind will not be
allowed in exams.
Help :
- Use one-another! The best way to learn is to teach, so ask your classmates (and help them if they ask you). This does not mean copy (see Collaboration above).
- Come to office hours!!!
- The Math Resource Center (MRC):
The MRC helps students with concepts and homework related to their class.
MRC is open Monday through Thursday 8 - 10 pm starting the second week of
classes and going through reading period.
The location is Kassar House 105. Students enter the back door.
